Adjustable display screen for a portable computing device

An apparatus comprising:

• a first display screen rail;
• a second display screen rail;
• a display screen housing disposed between the first and second display screen rails, the display screen housing being slidably and rotatably coupled to the first and second display screen rails;
• and
• a motion translation mechanism adapted to transmit motion of the display screen along the first display screen rail to motion of the display screen along the second display screen rail.

An apparatus comprising:

• a display screen rail housing having a slot located along an interior wall of the display screen rail housing;
• a toothed belt positioned within the display screen rail housing;
• a gear adapted to mesh with the toothed belt, wherein the gear is coupled to a hinge rod;
• a carriage coupled to the toothed belt;
• and
• a hinge pin coupled to the carriage for attachment to a display screen housing through the slot, wherein the display screen rail housing, the toothed belt, the carriage and the hinge pin are arranged in cooperation with one another such that when the display screen housing slides along the slot, the toothed belt moves and thereby rotates the gear attached to the hinge rod.
