Abstract
A viewing system for viewing video displays having the appearance of a three dimensional image.
Claims12
A method of viewing 3D images using an LCD display having a backlight using 3D shutter glasses having left and right shutters, comprising:
- displaying left and right images on the LCD display;
- synchronizing the operation of the 3D glasses with the operation of the LCD display such that the left shutter is open and the right shutter is closed during the display of the left image on the LCD display and the left shutter is closed and the right shutter is open during the display of the right image on the LCD display;
- and
- turning off the backlight of the LCD display during a transition between the display of adjacent left and right images.

A system for viewing 3D images using an LCD display having a backlight using 3D shutter glasses having left and right shutters, comprising:
- means for displaying left and right images on the LCD display;
- means for synchronizing the operation of the 3D glasses with the operation of the LCD display such that the left shutter is open and the right shutter is closed during the display of the left image on the LCD display and the left shutter is closed and the right shutter is open during the display of the right image on the LCD display;
- and
- means for turning off the backlight of the LCD display during a transition between the display of adjacent left and right images.
