Body structure of imaging apparatus

A camera body configured to attachably and detachably mount thereon an imaging unit including an optical system guiding incident light from an object, an imaging device converting an object image guided by the optical system into an electric signal, and an imaging unit-side connector performing a communication with an external part, the camera body comprising:

• a back face portion disposed backwardly as viewed from the imaging unit;
• an upper face portion provided integrally with the back face portion and positioning at an upper side when being used;
• a side face portion provided integrally with the back face portion and the upper face portion;
• and
• a concave portion formed by the back face portion, the upper face portion and the side face portion and configured to contain the imaging unit attachably and detachably,
• wherein a lower face portion, another side face portion and a front face portion of the concave portion are opened.

An imaging system comprising:

• an imaging unit including an optical system having an optical axis and guiding incident light from an object, an imaging device converting an object image guided by the optical system into an electric signal, an imaging unit-side connector performing a communication with an external part, and a rectangular case containing the optical system, the imaging device and the imaging unit-side connector;
• and
• a camera body including a concave portion in which the imaging unit is attachably and detachably disposed,
• wherein, when the imaging unit is disposed in the concave portion, the concave portion includes a back face portion disposed at back position of the case and to face a back surface of the case, as the case is viewed from a front, a side face portion disposed to face a side surface of the case, an upper face portion disposed to face an upper surface of the case,
• another side face portion of the concave portion facing another side surface of the case, a front face portion of the concave portion facing a front surface of the case, and a lower face portion of the concave portion facing a lower surface of the case are opened.
