Abstract
A method and apparatus for calibration of a projection system, comprising projecting visible and non-visible images on at least one image plane, detecting said non-visible images projected on the image plane, and calibrating projection of the visible images using the non-visible images. The visible and non-visible images are simultaneously projected and the non-visible images are continually monitored for automatic calibration of composite displays, without taking the projection system off-line. In addition, calibration can be maintained through continuous automatic adjustment using invisible calibration patterns, even if the system is disturbed while it is operating.
Claims16
Calibration apparatus, comprising:
- a projection system for projecting visible and non-visible images on at least one image plane;
- a non-visible light detector for detecting said non-visible images projected on said at least one image plane;
- and
- a calibration controller for calibrating projection of said visible images using said non-visible images.
Calibration apparatus, comprising:
- a projection system having a plurality of projectors for projecting visible and non-visible images on a plurality of tiled image planes;
- at least one non-visible light detector for detecting said non-visible images;
- and
- a calibration controller for calibrating projection of said visible images using said non-visible images so that said visible images are correctly aligned across said plurality of image planes.
A method for calibration of a projection system, comprising:
- projecting visible and non-visible images on at least one image plane;
- detecting said non-visible images projected on said at least one image plane;
- and
- calibrating projection of said visible images using said non-visible images.
A method for calibration of a projection system having a plurality of projectors for projecting images on a plurality of tiled image planes, comprising:
- projecting visible and non-visible images on said plurality of tiled image planes;
- detecting said non-visible images projected on said plurality of tiled image planes;
- and
- calibrating projection of said visible images using said non-visible images so that said visible images are correctly aligned across said plurality of image planes.
Apparatus, comprising:
- a projection system for projecting visible and non-visible images on at least one image plane;
- a non-visible light detector for detecting said non-visible images projected on said at least one image plane;
- and
- a controller for monitoring calibration of said visible images using said non-visible images.
A method operable in a projection system, comprising:
- projecting visible and non-visible images on at least one image plane;
- detecting said non-visible images projected on said at least one image plane;
- and
- monitoring calibration of said visible images using said non-visible images.
