Abstract
Methods and systems for enabling a tablet input object is described. A tablet input object can take various inputs from touch, a mouse, and a pen and send their information to an application.
Claims20
A method for handling tablet input, the method comprising:
- receiving a message, including a signature from a digitizer, that differentiates between touch input, made via a finger, and pen input;
- exchanging the received message with an input sink of a client side application;
- determining that the received message represents touch input made via a finger based upon a tablet name, wherein a portion of the tablet name includes a term identifying the tablet as a touch tablet;
- and
- when a determination has been made that touch input, made via a finger, has been received, the client side application providing a touch specific option and disabling areas of a user interface not affected by touch input.
A method for handling tablet input, the method comprising:
- receiving a message, including a signature from a digitizer, that differentiates between touch input, made via a finger, and a mouse event;
- exchanging the received message with an input sink of a client side application;
- determining that the received message represents touch input made via a finger based upon a tablet name, wherein a portion of the tablet name includes a term identifying the tablet as a touch tablet;
- generating mouse events including a touch signature from the digitizer based on touch input,
- passing the mouse events to the client side application;
- and
- upon a determination that touch input, made via a finger, has been received, the client side application providing a touch specific option.
A computer readable storage medium comprising computer executable instructions that when executed by a processor cause said processor to perform a method for handling tablet input, the method comprising:
- receiving a message, including a signature from a digitizer, that differentiates between touch input, made via a finger, and a mouse event;
- exchanging the received message with an input sink of a client side application;
- determining that the received message represents touch input made via a finger based upon a tablet name, wherein a portion of the tablet name includes a term identifying the tablet as a touch tablet;
- generating mouse events including a touch signature from the digitizer based on touch input;
- passing the mouse events to the client side application;
- and
- upon a determination that touch input, made via a finger, has been received, the client side application providing a touch specific option.
