Claims19
A staple cartridge, comprising:
- a housing including a proximal portion and a distal portion, the housing defining a surface including a plurality of staple pockets formed in a tissue contacting surface thereof for the reception of staples therein;
- and
- a buttress material including a proximal and a distal portion, the buttress material releasably securable to the surface of the housing atop of the staple pockets, the distal portion of the buttress material defining a tab and the distal portion of the housing defining a groove, the tab configured to be releasably secured to the groove.
A staple cartridge, comprising:
- a housing including a proximal portion and a distal portion, the housing defining a surface including a plurality of staple pockets formed in a tissue contacting surface thereof for the reception of staples therein, wherein the distal portion of the housing defines a groove and wherein the housing includes at least one projection extending from the tissue contacting surface;
- and
- a buttress material including a proximal and a distal portion, the buttress material releasably securable to the surface of the housing atop of the staple pockets, the distal portion of the buttress material defining a tab, the tab configured to be releasably secured in the groove, and wherein the buttress material includes at least one aperture for receiving a respective one of the at least one projection.
A surgical stapler, comprising:
- a handle;
- and
- an end effector connected to the handle assembly and operable by the handle, the end effector supporting a replaceable staple cartridge, the staple cartridge including:
- a housing including a proximal portion and a distal portion, the housing defining a surface including a plurality of staple pockets formed in a tissue contacting surface thereof for the reception of staples therein;
- and
- a buttress material including a proximal and a distal portion, the buttress material releasably securable to the surface of the housing atop of the staple pockets, the distal portion of the buttress material defining a tab and the distal portion of the housing defining a groove, the tab configured to be releasably secured to the groove.
