Abstract
A catheter assembly is provided. The catheter assembly includes a urinary catheter adapted for insertion into a urethra and a catheter package sized to receive the urinary catheter. The urinary catheter is configured to project from the catheter package to accommodate insertion into the urethra.

A catheter assembly comprising:
- a urinary catheter defining a conduit having a proximal end that is insertable into a bladder and an opposing distal end portion;
- and
- a catheter package containing the urinary catheter, the catheter package having a proximal end defining a first opening for dispensing the proximal end of the urinary catheter and a distal end defining a second opening provided to drain liquid out of the catheter package;
- wherein the urinary catheter is movable axially relative to the catheter package such that the distal end portion of the urinary catheter seals the proximal end of the catheter package when the urinary catheter is dispensed from the catheter package for insertion into the bladder.
