Abstract
The present invention is directed, inter alia, to methods of treating NUT midline carcinoma (NMC) by administering compounds that promote increased histone acetylation. The invention also includes assay methods for determining the responsiveness of NMC to specific histone deacetylases and other compounds.
Claims25
A method of treating a patient diagnosed as having a cancer with cells having a NUT chromosomal translocation or where a BRD protein is present as a translocation partner, said method comprising administering to said patient a therapeutically effective amount of a compound that promotes increased acetylation of histones.

A method of treating a patient for a solid tumor comprising:
- a) assaying cells derived from said solid tumor to determine whether said cells carry a NUT or BRD chromosomal rearrangement;
- b) if the assay of paragraph a) indicates that said chromosomal rearrangement is present, administering to said patient a therapeutically effective amount of a compound that promotes increased acetylation of histones.
