Abstract
According to one embodiment, a write-once type information storage medium using a recording material which has a low to high characteristic that a light reflectivity in a recording mark increases with respect to a non-recording area and which has a recording characteristic in accordance with a principle of recording without substrate deformation, wherein the recording material includes at least an organic metal complex, and wherein the organic metal complex includes a center metal.
Claims1
A material configured to be used for an information storage medium comprising:
- a light reflective layer;
- a recording layer formed on the light reflective layer, the recording layer including an unrecorded portion, the recording layer comprising the material;
- and
- a transparent layer formed on or above the recording layer,
- wherein light is incident to the light reflective layer through the transparent layer and the recording layer and is reflected by the light reflective layer,
- wherein information is recordable onto the recording layer by light at a wavelength of 405 nm,
- wherein an intensity of the light reflected by the light reflective layer and transmitted through a recorded portion of the recording layer is higher than an intensity of the light reflected by the light reflective layer and transmitted through the unrecorded portion,
- wherein the recorded portion forms marks,
- wherein a whole or a part of one of the marks is formed in a groove region, and
- wherein the material has properties of
- a peak absorption wavelength at which a light absorbance in the unrecorded portion is highest in the range of wavelengths longer than 405 nm,
- a light absorbance in the unrecorded portion at a wavelength of 405 nm being not smaller than 68% of the light absorbance at the peak absorption wavelength.
