Abstract
A remote wireless network includes a plurality of sensors/transmitters wherein each sensor is uniquely identifiable and lends its unique identity to the transmitter to which it is attached.

A device for a wireless monitoring system, the device comprising:
- a sensor train including:
- a sensor element;
- a memory element electrically connected to said sensor element, said memory element storing at least two of data including a unique identifier for said sensor element, data defining the type of sensor element, and data defining the engineering units for the output from said sensor element;
- and
- an external connector for connecting said sensor element and said memory element to a port on an external transmitter.

A method for wireless remote sensing, comprising:
- providing a sensor train, including a sensor element and a memory element programmed for use with said sensor element, said memory element including at least two of data including a unique identifier for said sensor element, data defining a type of the sensor element, and data defining a type of engineering units measured by the sensor element;
- and
- electrically connecting the programmed sensor train to a transmitter.
