A fireplace assembly comprising:
- a firebox composed of refractory material;
- a metal hood mounted onto said firebox, said metal hood comprising walls having interior sheet members and exterior sheet members, whereby an insulating air gap is defined between said interior sheet members and exterior sheet members.
