Abstract
The present disclosure described herein relates to a device and method for managing access to a server. The method comprises: receiving a request from the device for access to servers in a network; generating and sending access requests to servers from an interface entity, where the access requests are produced from analyzing at least one capability of the device; monitoring for responses from the servers to the access requests; extracting access information from the responses; and generating and sending a response to the request for access to the device, the response including the access information from the responses from the servers.
Claims16
A method for managing access to a server in a network for a wireless electronic device through an interface server in said network, said method comprising:
- after receiving at said interface server from said device a notification for access to one or more services or servers in said network, identifying one or more capabilities of said device, and analyzing said one or more capabilities with operating parameters of said one or more services or servers to identify a set of said one or more services or servers that are compatible with said one or more capabilities;
- sending a set of access requests from said interface server to a set of servers associated with said set of one or more services or servers;
- monitoring for responses from said set of servers to said set of access requests;
- and
- generating and sending a response to said device providing information relating to said responses from said set of servers.
A method for managing access to a server in a network for an electronic device, said method comprising:
- at said device, upon entry to said network identifying a set of servers in said network that can provide services to said device;
- at said device, generating and sending an access request for said set of servers to an interface entity in said network, said set of access requests produced from an analysis of a status of at least one capability of said device;
- and
- at said device, receiving a response to said access request from said interface server, said response including said access information from said set of servers.
An interface server for managing access to a server in a network for an electronic device, said interface server comprising:
- a connection to servers in said network;
- a communication link to said device;
- a microprocessor;
- a device communication module providing instructions to said microprocessor to receive a request from said device for access to one or more of said servers and extract any data relating to one or more capabilities of said device from said request;
- and
- to generate and send a response to said request for access to said device;
- an analysis module providing instructions to said microprocessor to identify a set of said servers to associate with said device after analyzing said one or more capabilities with operating parameters of said servers;
- and
- a server communication module providing instructions to said microprocessor to send a set of access requests from said interface server to said set of said servers;
- to monitor for responses from said set of servers to said set of access requests;
- and
- to generate and send a response to said device providing information relating to said responses from said set of servers.
