Claims16
A spine stabilization implant comprising:
- a first portion having a first fixed angulated extension, a first rod receiving element and a connecting element;
- a second portion having a second fixed angulated extension, a second rod receiving element, and a receiving portion for receiving the connecting element of the first portion;
- wherein the second portion is configured with a locking assembly for locking the first portion and second portion to one another.
A spine stabilization system comprising:
- a cross-connector comprising:
- a first portion with a first fixed angulated extension, a first rod receiving element and a connecting element;
- a second portion having a second fixed angulated extension, a second rod receiving element, and a receiving portion for receiving the connecting element of the first portion;
- wherein the second portion is configured with a locking assembly for locking the first portion and second portion to one another,
- a first and second bone anchor coupled to the first and second fixed angulated extensions;
- a first and second elongated rods positioned within the first and second rod receiving element;
- a third and fourth bone anchor coupled to the sacrum portion of the spine and configured to capture and retain a portion of the first and second elongated rods.
A method for stabilizing the spine comprising:
- positioning a cross-connector across the iliac portion of the spin, the cross connector comprising a first portion with a first fixed angulated extension, a first rod receiving element and a connecting element;
- a second portion having a second fixed angulated extension, a second rod receiving element, and a receiving portion for receiving the connecting element of the first portion;
- wherein the second portion is configured with a locking assembly for locking the first portion and second portion to one another,
- positioning a first and second bone anchor into the iliac crest, the first and second bone anchor being coupled to the first and second fixed angulated extensions;
- positioning a first and second elongated rods within the first and second rod receiving element;
- and
- positioning a third and fourth bone anchor on the sacrum portion of the spine and capturing a portion of the first and second elongated rods.
