Abstract
Compounds represented by Formula (I) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, are useful in the prophylactic or therapeutic treatment of diabetes, hyperglycemia, hypercholesterolemia, hyperinsulinemia, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, atherosclerosis or tissue ischemia e.g. myocardial ischemia, and as cardioprotectants.
Claims14
A compound of Formula (I):
- or a stereoisomer, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein:
- R1 and R1′ are independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, cyano, C1-6alkyl, C1-6alkoxy, fluoromethyl, difluoromethyl, trifluoromethyl, C2-6alkenyl, C2-6alkynyl, aryl, —C1-6alkylaryl, —C1-6alkylheteroaryl or aryloxy;
- R2 is aryl or heteroaryl, optionally substituted by up to three substituents selected from halogen, hydroxy, cyano, nitro, C1-6alkyl, C3-7cycloalkyl, C2-6alkenyl, C2-6alkynyl, C1-6alkoxy, fluoromethyl, difluoromethyl, trifluoromethyl, methylenedioxo, COOR3 and NR4R5;
- R3 is hydrogen or C1-4alkyl;
- and
- R4 and R5 are independently selected from hydrogen, C1-4-alkyl, aryl and —C1-4alkylaryl;
- or R4 and R5 together with the nitrogen to which they are attached form a 4- to 7-membered heterocycle optionally containing a further heteroatom selected from N and O, which heterocycle is optionally substituted by C1-4alkyl.
A compound according to any one of the preceding claims, or a stereoisomer, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein R2 is optionally substituted phenyl, naphthyl or a 6-membered heteroaryl group any of which may be optionally substituted.
A compound selected from any one of Examples 1 to 10, as the free base or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
