Abstract
The present application relates to anti-viral selenopurine compounds of formula (I): wherein R1 is C2-6alkyl, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts, solvates, and prodrugs thereof. These 6-(C2-6alkylseleno)purine compounds find use in the treatment of neural measles virus infection and associated diseases (namely, multiple sclerosis or neural measles). A particularly preferred compound is ethylselenopurine or ESP.

A compound of Formula 1 or pharmaceutically acceptable salts solvates and/or prodrugs thereof:
- wherein R1 is C2-6alkyl.
A method of treating a viral infection or a disease associated therewith, comprising administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of a compound of Formula 1
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate and/or prodrug thereof.
