Mobile device leasing with customized operational features

A system that supplies a device that accesses and utilizes resources in a wireless network under a lease agreement, the system comprising:

• a registration component that generates one or more service unit banks retained in a memory;
• a billing component that updates the one or more service unit banks and determines at least one of consumption of leased service units or expiration of lease terms;
• a profile management component that composes a lessee-specific operational profile that configures, at least in part, one or more services to be provided through the device, the registration component delivers the lessee-specific operational profile to the device;
• and
• a component that delivers an indication the lease agreement is active.

A method for operating a device that accesses and utilizes resources in a wireless network under a lease agreement, the method comprising:

• employing a processor to execute code instructions retained in a memory, the code instructions when executed by the processor perform the following acts:
• receiving an indication of an active lease;
• configuring at least one of a repository of service units or lease timer in accordance with received lease term(s);
• provisioning a lessee-specific operational profile for the device, wherein the lessee-specific operational profile affords, at least in part, operation of the device;
• and
• monitoring utilization of the device.

A device that accesses and utilizes resources in a wireless network under a lease agreement, the device comprising;

• a communication platform that receives or delivers leasing configuration information, wherein the leasing information includes a lessee-specific operational profile that affords, at least in part, operation of the device;
• a leasing client component that generates a service unit bank in accordance at least in part with received term(s) of the lease agreement;
• and
• a profile manager component that provisions the lessee-specific operational profile.

A computer-readable storage medium having code instructions stored therein that when executed by at least a processor implement the following acts:

• receiving an indication of an active lease of a device that accesses and utilizes resources in a wireless network under a lease agreement;
• configuring at least one of a repository of service units or lease timer in accordance with received lease term(s);
• provisioning a lessee-specific operational profile for the device, wherein the lessee-specific operational profile affords, at least in part, operation of the device;
• and
• monitoring utilization of the device in accordance with the received lease term(s).
