An image bearing member including an electroconductive substrate, a photosensitive layer provided overlying the electroconductive substrate, an optional layer overlying the photosensitive layer, and boron nitride attached to at least part of the surface of an outermost layer.

An image bearing member comprising:
- an electroconductive substrate;
- a photosensitive layer provided overlying the electroconductive substrate;
- an optional layer overlying the photosensitive layer;
- and
- boron nitride attached to at least part of a surface of an outermost layer.

An image forming apparatus comprising:
- an image bearing member that bears a latent electrostatic image;
- a charging device that charges a surface of the image bearing member;
- an irradiator that irradiates the surface of the image bearing member to form the latent electrostatic image thereon;
- a development device that develops the latent electrostatic image with a development agent comprising a toner to form a visualized image;
- a transfer device that transfers the visualized image to a recording medium;
- a cleaning device having a cleaning blade having a front end that removes the toner remaining on the surface of the image bearing member, with a lubricant comprising boron nitride being attached to the front end;
- and
- a protective agent supplying device that supplies a protective agent comprising metal soap to the surface of the image baring member.
