Abstract
Some embodiments include a game of poker in which player actions are fixed by game rules.
Claims15
A method comprising:
- dealing a first set of cards to a first player;
- dealing a second set of cards to a second player;
- determining, based on a set of game rules and based on the first set of cards, a first action that must be taken by the first player;
- providing to the first player an indication of the first action;
- determining, based on the set of game rules and based on the second set of cards, a second action that must be taken by the second player;
- providing to the second player an indication of the second action;
- determining a size of a pot based on the first action and based on the second action;
- determining a first poker ranking based on the first set of cards;
- determining a second poker ranking based on the second set of cards;
- determining a winning player from amongst the first and second players based on the first poker ranking and based on the second poker ranking;
- and
- awarding an amount to the winning player, wherein the amount is based on the size of the pot.
The method of 1 further including displaying the first and second sets of cards to both the first and second players.
The method of 1 further including receiving an ante from the first player and receiving an ante from the second player.
The method of 1 in which the first action is one of:
- (a) a bet;
- (b) a raise;
- (c) a call;
- (d) a check;
- and (e) a fold.
The method of 1 in which determining a first action includes:
- determining a poker ranking of the first set of cards;
- and
- determining, based on a set of game rules and based on the poker ranking of the first set of cards, a first action that must be taken by the first player.
The method of 1 in which the set of game rules require a particular player to check if a poker ranking of his cards is less than a threshold ranking, and to bet otherwise.
The method of 1 in which the set of game rules require a particular player to fold if a poker ranking of his cards is less than a first threshold ranking, to call if the poker ranking of his cards is less than a second threshold ranking but greater than or equal to the first threshold ranking, and to raise otherwise.
The method of 1 further including taking the first action on behalf of the first player.
The method of 1 further including:
- dealing a third set of cards to the first player;
- and
- dealing a fourth set of cards to the second player.
The method of 9 in which determining the first poker ranking includes determining the first poker ranking based on the first set of cards and based on the third set of cards, and in which determining the second poker ranking includes determining the second poker ranking based on the second set of cards and based on the fourth set of cards.
The method of 1 further including deducting an amount from the pot as a rake.
The method of 1 in which determining the size of the pot includes determining the size of the pot based on the first action, based on the second action, and based on the rake.
A method comprising:
- dealing a first set of cards to a first player;
- determining, based on a set of game rules and based on the first set of cards, a first action that must be taken by the first player;
- providing to the first player an indication of the first action;
- determining a first size of a pot based on the first action;
- determining a first poker ranking based on the first set of cards;
- determining whether the first player has won based on the first poker ranking;
- and
- awarding an amount to the first player if the player has won, wherein the amount is based on the first size of the pot.
The method of 13 further including;
- dealing a second set of cards to a dealer;
- and
- determining a second poker ranking based on the second set of cards,
- wherein determining whether the first player has won includes determining whether the first player has won based on the first poker ranking and based on the second poker ranking.
The method of 14 further including:
- determining, based on the set of game rules and based on the second set of cards, a second action that must be taken by the dealer;
- providing to the first player an indication of the second action;
- and
- determining a second size of the pot based on the first size and based on the second action,
- wherein awarding includes awarding an amount to the first player if the player has won, wherein the amount is based on the second size of the pot.
