Abstract
The invention relates to an activated charcoal filter for storing and releasing gaseous hydrocarbons which originate from a fuel supply means of a motor vehicle. The activated charcoal can be supplied with gaseous hydrocarbons via an inlet. A heating means for heating of the activated charcoal is made available by a tank shutoff valve by means of which the inlet can be shut off. Since the tank shutoff valve is being operated as a heating means, an additional heating means for regenerating the activated charcoal can be omitted. Furthermore, the invention relates to a motor vehicle with such an activated charcoal filter and a method for operating an activated charcoal filter.
Claims20
A filter means for storing and releasing gaseous hydrocarbons, with an inlet via which a storage medium can be supplied with gaseous hydrocarbons originating from a fuel supply means of a motor vehicle, and with at least one heating means for heating the storage medium wherein at least one heating means is made available by a shutoff means for shutting off a gasious hydrocarbon inlet of the medium.
The filter means according to claim w wherein the shutoff means comprises a base body which has at least one projection for enlarging an outer surface of the shutoff means.
A method for operating a filter means which stores gaseous hydrocarbons, in which a storage medium is supplied with gaseous hydrocarbons originating from a fuel supply means of a motor vehicle via an inlet, and in which the storage medium is heated by at least one heating means wherein a shutoff means which is designed for shutting off the inlet is operated as a heating means for heating the storage medium.
A storage device comprising:
- a housing having an outlet;
- a gas adsorbing, heat actuated medium disposed in said housing;
- means for admitting a gas adsorbed by said medium into said housing;
- and
- a heat emitting valve disposed in the flow path of said gas and in heat exchange relationship with said medium.
