Object tracking system

A headgear tracking system, comprising:

• one or more point source optical emitters arranged on a piece of headgear to output respective optical emissions;
• a front sensor array and a rear sensor array, each of said sensor arrays comprising one or more angle of arrival sensors, each of said sensors comprising:
• a focal plane array (FPA);
• and
• one or more optical elements arranged to resolve said optical emissions into one or more linear patterns on said FPA, at least one of said sensors having a field of view (FOV) which encompasses at least one of said optical emissions such that said sensor detects at least one of said linear patterns;
• and
• a processing system in communication with said front and rear sensor arrays, said processing system configured to establish the orientation and position of the point source emitters within each sensor's FOV using said detected linear patterns.

An object tracking system, comprising:

• a plurality of nodes, each of said nodes comprising:
• one or more point source emitters arranged to output respective optical emissions;
• a sensor array, each of said detector arrays comprising one or more angle of arrival sensors, each of said sensors comprising:
• a focal plane array (FPA);
• and
• one or more optical elements arranged to resolve said optical emissions into one or more linear patterns on said FPA, at least one of said sensors having a field of view (FOV) which encompasses at least one of said optical emissions such that said sensor detects at least one of said linear patterns;
• and
• a processing system in communication with said sensor array and arranged to establish the orientation and position of the point source emitters within each sensor's FOV using said detected linear patterns;
• said system arranged such that the sensor of a given node only detects optical emissions received from other nodes and not the optical emissions of said node's own point source emitters.
