Abstract
A method of assembling a recording head includes attaching a first segment having a plurality of toroidal coils to a second segment having a plurality of flexure beams to form a wafer assembly. The method also includes attaching the wafer assembly to a slider body such that a cavity portion of the second segment cooperates with a cavity portion in the slider body to form a transducer cavity. The method also includes vacuum attaching the slider body to a reference flat surface. The method also includes positioning a transducer body having a transducer in the transducer cavity using a touch sensor.

A method comprising:
- attaching a first segment having a plurality of toroidal coils to a second segment having a plurality of flexure beams to form a wafer assembly;
- attaching the wafer assembly to a slider body such that a cavity portion of the second segment cooperates with a cavity portion in the slider body to form a transducer cavity;
- vacuum attaching the slider body to a reference flat surface;
- and
- positioning a transducer body having a transducer in the transducer cavity using a touch sensor.
A method comprising:
- forming a plurality of wafer assemblies, each including a motor segment having a plurality of toroidal coils and a flexure segment having a plurality of flexure beams;
- attaching the plurality of wafer assemblies to a slider body bar including multiple unseparated slider bodies, each of the plurality of wafer assemblies being attached to a respective one of the slider bodies such that a cavity portion of each respective flexure segment cooperates with a cavity portion in each respective slider body to form a transducer cavity;
- vacuum attaching the slider body bar to a reference flat surface;
- and
- positioning a transducer body having a transducer in each transducer cavity.
A wafer for use in manufacturing components of a recording head, comprising:
- a silicon surface having defined thereon a plurality of flexure segments, each segment defining a plurality of flexure beams bounded by interconnect regions;
- and
- a plurality of ceramic spacers that are positioned between the interconnect regions of adjacent segments, wherein the ceramic spacers assist in aligning each flexure segment to additional components of the recording head.
