Abstract
The hybrid solar collector and geothermal system collects low grade heat energy derived from the sun. A simple heat engine converts this energy using conventional methods of power conversion. By exploiting the difference in temperature between the Hybrid Solar collector and the Geothermal heat sink, mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy without the use of combustion. The device does not produce any CO2 because it does not use combustion to produce electricity.
Claims2
A process for generating CO2 free electricity using a structure having a roof and an attic, comprising the steps of:
- collecting low grade solar heat;
- collecting waste heat derived from the roof total surface area which has penetrated into the attic;
- using servos and control logic to control the attic heat collection to optimize the capture of low grade solar heat;
- using the collected low grade solar heat to expand a liquid to a high pressure, high volume gas;
- using an air-motor-generator design to use two types of saturated gas for the extraction of mechanical energy into electrical energy i.e. electricity;
- using a Geothermal Heat sink for cooling a refrigerant from a gas to a liquid;
- using a Geothermal Heat sink for dissipating large quantities of low grade heat;
- using a Geothermal Heat sink for conducting heat into the surrounding soil or liquid so as to cool the device;
- using a Geothermal Heat sink for heating a cryogenic liquid where the heat direction is reversed i.e. taken from the surrounding soil and used to heat up a cryogenic liquid to a high pressure gas.
- using high pressure high volume gas to generate electricity in a closed loop;
- and
- converting low pressure, saturated liquid generated from using the high pressure, high volume gas into a liquid using a Geothermal heat sink connected below ground at a level where the temperature remains constant year-round.
A process for generating electricity, comprising the steps of:
- collecting low grade solar heat;
- using the collected low grade solar heat to expand a liquid to a high pressure, high volume (HPHV) gas;
- using the HPHV gas to generate electricity in a closed loop;
- and
- converting low pressure, saturated liquid generated from using the HPHV gas into a liquid using a Geothermal heat sink connected below ground at a level where the temperature remains constant year-round.
