Abstract
A fence engagement and blade guard includes a column mounted to a table saw with a horizontal member received in a channel in the column. A vertical rod extends through and is vertically adjustable in a hole in the horizontal member. An engagement cart is suspended from the vertical rod and includes a beam having axle apertures and axles received in the apertures to support wheels. The wheels frictionally engage a work piece. An axle suspension system is supported from a shield. The engagement cart is angularly rotatable for engagement of the wheels on the work piece to directionally urge the work piece against the table saw fence.
Claims19
A fence engagement and blade guard comprising:
- a column mounted to a table saw;
- a horizontal member received in a channel in the column and adjustably extending therefrom;
- a vertical rod extending through and vertically adjustable in a hole in the horizontal member distal from the column;
- and,
- an engagement cart suspended from the vertical rod and including a beam having axle apertures, axles received in the apertures and supporting wheels, said wheels frictionally engaging a work piece, and an axle suspension system supporting a shield, said engagement cart angularly rotatable for engagement of the wheels on the work piece to directionally urge the work piece.
A work piece engagement cart for a table saw comprising:
- a beam suspended from a vertical rod and having axle apertures;
- axles received in the apertures and supporting wheels, said wheels frictionally engaging a work piece;
- and
- an axle suspension system affixed to the beam and supporting a shield, said beam angularly rotatable for engagement of the wheels on the work piece to directionally urge the work piece.
A table saw fence engagement apparatus comprising:
- an engagement cart having a beam suspended from a vertical rod and having elongated axle apertures with vertical flats, said vertical rod extending through and vertically adjustable in a hole in a horizontal member, said horizontal member extending from a channel in a column mounted to the table saw;
- axles having vertical flat surfaces on an engagement portion received within each axle aperture and supporting wheels, said wheels frictionally engaging a work piece and said beam angularly rotatable for engagement of the wheels on the work piece to directionally urge the work piece;
- and
- an axle suspension system for each axle having
- an axle nut with a threaded nipple received in a threaded hole in the beam centered over the axle aperture,
- a pin in a cup of an alignment bore of the axle nut, said pin extending through a double tapered port in the axle and received in a notch in the beam;
- and
- a spring concentric with the pin and captured within the alignment bore of the axle nut, said spring constrained between a shoulder of the alignment bore and the axle engagement portion;
- the double tapered port allowing angular play of the pin for rotation of the axle with said rotation associated flats to constrain to a vertical plane by the associated flats in the apertures and vertical flat surfaces of the axle;
- and,
- a transparent acrylic shield supported from the axle nuts.
