Abstract
Apparatus for securing a therapy delivery device relative to a burr hole and method for making same. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a base for seating in or near the burr hole. The apparatus may further include a stabilizer that may be engaged with the therapy delivery device. The stabilizer may include a surface coating or treatment operable to enhance frictional engagement with the therapy delivery device.

A system for securing an electrical stimulation lead relative to a burr hole, the system comprising:
- a base defining a central opening extending therethrough;
- a stabilizer having a pair of opposed movable sidewalls defining a slot extending through the stabilizer and radially inward from an outer perimeter of the stabilizer, the opposed sidewalls biased to a closed position configured to engage the electrical stimulation lead and each sidewall movable to an open position, the opposed sidewalls facing each other in the open and closed positions and while moving therebetween, the stabilizer being positionable within the opening of the base and movable relative thereto;
- and
- a cap removably coupled to the base for covering the central opening.
A system for securing an electrical stimulation lead relative to a burr hole, the system comprising:
- a substantially ring shaped base defining a central opening extending therethrough;
- a stabilizer positioned in the central opening and having a pair of opposed movable sidewalls defining a slot extending through the stabilizer and radially inward from an outer perimeter of the stabilizer, the opposed sidewalls biased to a closed position configured to engage the electrical stimulation lead and each movable to an open position, the opposed sidewalls facing each other in the open and closed positions and while moving therebetween, each opposed sidewall including a plurality of open-ended notches formed therein, the stabilizer being positionable within the central opening of the base and movable relative thereto;
- and
- a cap removably coupled to the base for covering the central opening and the burr hole.
A system for securing an electrical stimulation lead relative to a burr hole, the system comprising:
- the electrical stimulation lead adapted to be positioned through the burr hole in a skull of a patient;
- a substantially ring shaped base having an outer perimeter and an inner perimeter defining a central opening extending therethrough, the base including at least one groove formed in an upper surface thereof and extending radially between the inner and outer perimeters, the at least one groove configured to receive a portion of the electrical stimulation lead therein;
- a stabilizer positioned in the central opening and having a pair of opposed movable sidewalls defining a slot extending through the stabilizer and radially inward from an outer perimeter of the stabilizer, the opposed sidewalls biased to a closed position configured to engage the electrical stimulation lead and each sidewall movable to an open position, the opposed sidewalls facing each other in the open and closed positions and while moving therebetween, each opposed sidewall including a plurality of open-ended notches formed therein, the stabilizer being positionable within the central opening of the base and movable relative thereto;
- and
- a cap for covering the central opening and the burr hole, the cap including at least one protrusion extending therefrom configured to engage the base to removably secure the cap to the base.
A system for securing an electrical stimulation lead relative to a burr hole, the system comprising:
- a base having an outer perimeter and an inner perimeter defining a central opening extending therethrough;
- a stabilizer positioned in the central opening of the base, the stabilizer including first and second clamping members biased to a substantially closed position and movable to an open position to receive the lead therebetween, the clamping members configured to directly engage the lead in the closed position to secure the lead relative to the base, and the clamping members being movable relative to the central opening and the base;
- and
- a cap for covering the central opening and the burr hole, the cap including at least one protrusion extending therefrom configured to engage an opening in the base to removably secure the cap to the base.
A system for securing an electrical stimulation lead relative to a burr hole, the system comprising:
- a substantially ring shaped base having an outer perimeter and an inner perimeter defining a central opening extending therethrough, the base including at least one groove formed in an upper surface thereof and extending radially between the inner and outer perimeters, the at least one groove configured to receive a portion of the electrical stimulation lead therein;
- a stabilizer positioned in the central opening of the base, the stabilizer including first and second clamping members biased to a substantially closed position and movable to an open position to receive the lead therebetween, the clamping members each including a sidewall configured to directly engage the lead in the closed position to secure the lead relative to the base, each sidewall including a plurality of open-ended notches formed therein;
- and
- a cap for covering the central opening and the burr hole, the cap including a protrusion extending therefrom and configured to engage an opening in the base in an interlocking manner to removably secure the cap to the base.
