Programmable wireless communication device

A wireless communication device comprises:

• a processing module operable to:
• determine a wireless communication protocol;
• determine operational parameters in accordance with the wireless communication protocol;
• determine transmitter calibration information based on transmitter feedback;
• and
• determine receiver calibration information based on receiver feedback;
• a receiver section operable to:
• tune conversion of an inbound radio frequency (RF) signal into an inbound symbol stream in accordance with the receiver calibration information to produce a tuned down conversion;
• convert the inbound RF signal into the inbound symbol stream based on the operation parameters and in accordance with the tuned down conversion;
• and
• generate the receiver feedback based on the converting the inbound RF signal into the inbound symbol stream;
• a transmitter section operable to:
• tune conversion of an outbound symbol stream into an outbound RF signal in accordance with the transmitter calibration information to produce a tuned up-conversion;
• convert the outbound symbol stream into the outbound RF signal based on the operation parameters and in accordance with the tuned up conversion;
• generate the transmitter feedback based on the converting the outbound symbol stream into the outbound RF signal;
• and
• an antenna system operable to provide an antenna structure in accordance with the operational parameters to transceive the inbound and outbound RF signals.
