Abstract
A polymer electrolyte membrane, wherein the period length L in the membrane surface direction, which period length is defined by formula (1) and is measured by using a small-angle X-ray diffractometer, is less than 52.0 nm: L=λ1/(2 sin(2θi/2)) (1) wherein 2θi represents a scattering angle in the membrane surface direction and λ1 represents the wavelength of X-rays used when the scattering angle in the membrane surface direction is measured.

A polymer electrolyte membrane, wherein the period length L in the membrane surface direction, which period length is defined by formula (1) and is measured by using a small-angle X-ray diffractometer, is less than 52.0 nm:
- L=λ1/(2 sin(2θi/2)) (1)
- wherein 2θi represents a scattering angle in the membrane surface direction and λ1 represents the wavelength of X-rays used when the scattering angle in the membrane surface direction is measured.
(canceled)
A method for preparing a polymer electrolyte membrane, the method comprising:
- applying a solution containing a polymer electrolyte by a cast-application method to a substrate and
- removing a solvent to obtain the polymer electrolyte membrane, wherein in the solvent-removing step, the specific humidity H (wherein 0≦H≦1) of the atmosphere of the step is kept in a range satisfying formula (3), and the Celsius temperature T of the atmosphere of the step is kept in a range satisfying formula (4):
- 0.0033T−0.2<H≦0.5 (3)
