Abstract
An adsorbent for the removal of blood cells, which is formed from a hydrophobic polymer resin and has a surface center line average roughness of 5 to 100 nm. The hydrophobic polymer resin is preferably a polyarylate resin (PAR), polyethersulfone resin (PES), polysulfone resin (PSF), or a polymer alloy consisting of two or more of these resins. The adsorbent for the removal of blood cells can take the form of beads, hollow fibers, or solid fibers.
Claims7
An adsorbent for removing blood cells, used for removing white blood cells and platelets from blood, which is formed from a hydrophobic polymer resin, and has a surface center line average roughness of 5 to 100 nm, and
- in which the hydrophobic polymer resin is a polyarylate resin having a repeating unit represented by chemical formula (1) shown below, and the number average molecular weight of the polyarylate resin is within a range from 20,000 to 30,000:
- wherein each of R1 and R2 represents a lower alkyl group of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and R1 and R2 may be identical or different.
