Abstract
A method and apparatus to activate over the air a wireless communication device by using a client-initiated bootstrap server and without the use of a provisioning server, a provisioning session and a provisioning protocol implementation at one or more servers of the wireless network. The client-initiated bootstrap server sends a bootstrap script and/or document to the wireless communication device to set an activation flag with commands included in the bootstrap scrip.

A method of provisioning and activating a wireless communication device, the method comprising:
- activating and provisioning, over the air, said wireless communication device by using a client-initiated bootstrap server to set an activation flag of said wireless device without using a provisioning server, a provisioning session and a provisioning protocol that is implemented at one or more servers of the wireless network.
An apparatus comprising:
- a client-initiated bootstrap server to set an activation flag of a wireless communication device without using a provisioning server, a provisioning session and a provisioning protocol implementation at one or more servers of the wireless network.
A wireless communication system comprising:
- a client-initiated bootstrap server to set an activation flag of a wireless communication device without using a provisioning server, a provisioning session and a provisioning protocol implementation at one or more servers of the wireless network.
A client-initiated bootstrap server for provisioning and activating a wireless communication device comprising:
- a memory to store a bootstrap script template operably coupled to a processor that generates a bootstrap script wherein said bootstrap script when executed, results in:
- activating and provisioning over the air said wireless communication device by using a client-initiated bootstrap server to set an activation flag of said wireless device without using a provisioning server, a provisioning session and a provisioning protocol that is implemented at one or more servers of the wireless network.
