Abstract
A voltage supply incorporates two voltage supplies connected in a mirror-image series arrangement to generate a DC voltage between the respective common terminals of the voltage supplies.
Claims21
An electrical system comprising:
- a first voltage apparatus configured to supply a first AC input voltage;
- a first voltage multiplier having
- an AC input configured to receive the first AC input voltage,
- a common terminal, and
- an output configured to deliver a multiple of the first AC input voltage, such that the output is at a higher potential than the common terminal by a first difference;
- a second voltage apparatus configured to supply a second AC input voltage;
- and
- a second voltage multiplier having
- an AC input configured to receive the second AC input voltage,
- a common terminal, and
- an output configured to deliver a multiple of the second AC input voltage, such that the output of the second voltage multiplier is at a lower potential than the common terminal of the second voltage multiplier by a second difference,
- wherein the respective outputs of the first and second voltage multipliers are electrically connected.

An electrical system comprising:
- a first voltage apparatus configured to supply an AC input voltage having a first amplitude of at least 10 kV;
- a first Cockcroft-Walton multiplier having
- an AC input configured to receive the AC input voltage supplied by the first voltage apparatus,
- a common terminal, and
- an output terminal configured to deliver a multiple of the AC input voltage, such that the output terminal is at a DC potential higher than the common terminal by a first difference equal to at least 150 kV;
- a second voltage apparatus configured to supply an AC input voltage having a second amplitude equal to the first amplitude;
- and
- a second Cockcroft-Walton multiplier having
- an AC input configured to receive the AC input voltage supplied by the second voltage apparatus,
- a common terminal, and
- an output terminal, electrically connected to the output terminal of the first Cockcroft-Walton multiplier, configured to deliver a multiple of the AC input voltage supplied by the second voltage apparatus, such that the output terminal of the second voltage multiplier is at a DC potential lower than the common terminal of the second voltage multiplier by the first difference,
- wherein the electrical system is configured to deliver a DC output current of at least 20 mA.
9 more elements
An electrical system comprising:
- a first voltage supply having a common terminal and an output terminal at a higher electrical potential than the common terminal by a first voltage;
- and
- a second voltage supply having a common terminal and an output terminal, electrically connected to the output terminal of the first voltage supply, at a lower electrical potential than the common terminal of the second voltage supply by a second voltage,
- wherein the respective common terminals of the first and second voltage supplies differ by the sum of the first and second voltages.
