For supporting the use of positioning assistance data, a positioning assistance server collects positioning assistance data from at least one mobile device and Provides the collected positioning assistance data for distribution to at least one other device.

A method comprising:
- collecting, by an apparatus, positioning assistance data from at least one mobile device, the apparatus being or belonging to a device that is different from the at least one mobile device;
- and
- providing, by the apparatus, the collected positioning assistance data for distribution to at least one other device for supporting a positioning of the at least one other device.
