Abstract
A non-pneumatic tire for supporting a load by working in tension. The tire can comprise a generally annular inner ring, a generally annular outer ring, and a web having a plurality of web elements. The tire can further comprise a layer or layers fabric material acting as a bonding agent to bond tire components together.
Claims21
A non-pneumatic tire for supporting a load comprising:
- a generally annular inner ring having an axis of rotation;
- a deformable generally annular outer ring comprising of a first flowable material;
- a flexible web extending between the inner and the outer ring, the web comprising tension members;
- a tread carrying layer affixed to a radially external surface of the outer ring, the tread carrying layer comprised of a second flowable material;
- wherein the annular outer ring and the tread carrying layer are bonded together with a layer of fabric material.
A method of forming a composite structure within a tire comprising:
- coupling a first flowable material to a second flowable material with a fabric material, the fabric material bonding the first flowable material to the second flowable material.
A method of forming a composite structure within a tire comprising:
- providing a first flowable material in a solid state;
- placing a fabric material along a radially inwardly facing surface of the first flowable material;
- overmolding a second flowable material directly onto the radially inwardly facing surface of the first flowable material, such that the fabric material acts as a bonding agent between the first flowable material and the second flowable material.
