Systems, including methods, apparatus, and kits, for fixing bones, such as rib bones, with bone plates.
Claims20
A device for fixing a bone, comprising:
- a bone plate including
- a pair of at least generally U-shaped clip portions configured to wrap partially around a bone to opposing surfaces of the bone, each clip portion including a pair of arms extending from a bridge region that connects the pair of arms, the pair of arms of at least one clip portion defining a pair of aligned apertures, and
- a spanning portion connecting the clip portions and configured to extend along the bone between the pair of clip portions;
- and
- a fastener configured to extend from a first aperture of the pair of aligned apertures, through the bone, and into locked engagement with a second aperture of the pair of aligned apertures.

A device for fixing a bone, comprising:
- a bone plate including
- a pair of at least generally U-shaped clip portions each including an outer arm and an inner arm extending from a bridge region that connects the outer arm and the inner arm, the outer and inner arms of at least one clip portion defining a pair of aligned apertures, and
- a spanning portion connecting the clip portions, the spanning portion and the outer arms of the clip portions collectively forming an outer wall of the bone plate that opposes the inner arms to form a space for receiving a bone between the inner arms and the outer wall such that the spanning portion extends along the bone between the pair of clip portions;
- and
- a fastener configured to extend through the bone from a first aperture to a second aperture of the aligned pair of apertures.
