Autonomous intelligent user identity manager with context recognition capabilities

A computer program product for application authentication comprising instruction code stored on a machine readable storage medium comprising hardware which, upon being executed cause a computing machine comprising a processor for executing the instruction code to:

• access a remotely located, uniquely identified resource from a Web browser implemented in a computer program product running on hardware, wherein said resource serves an application utilized by the Web browser, wherein access to the application requires authentication comprising a userid and password;
• query a memory for a record associated with the application, wherein said memory is a physical memory comprising digitally encoded content comprising a set of userids and passwords indexed against unique application identifiers that are independent upon server identifiers or URLs of network resources that serve the unique applications;
• responsive to querying the memory, determine a match between the application requiring authentication and a unique application identifier in the memory;
• and
• provide without manual input from a user a userid and password from memory that is associated with the unique application identifier to the remotely located, uniquely identified resource as authentication to access the served application.

A method for autonomous intelligent user identity management comprising:

• detecting of an authentication request from a software application operating from an application server to a software application client interface by an intelligent user identity manager, wherein the authentication request requires submission of at least one item of user identification data;
• automatically intercepting the authentication request prior to handling by the software application client interface;
• analyzing the authentication request for at least one identifying characteristic of the software application, wherein said at least one identifying characteristic represents identification data associated with the software application;
• determining an existence of at least one match for the at least one identifying characteristic of the software application from within a plurality of application identification records, wherein the at least one match comprises at least one of an exact match and a partial match;
• when the at least one match exists, selecting a user identity record from a set of at least one user identity record corresponding to the at least one match, wherein the set of at least one user identity record corresponding to the at least one match is a subset of a plurality of user identity records, wherein each user identity record is a unique composition of at least one item of user identification data, and, wherein the selected user identity record is determined to most likely satisfy the authentication request, wherein the user identity record of the exact match takes precedence over the user identity record of the partial match;
• and
• conveying the selected user identity record to the software application as a response to the authentication request on behalf of a human user.
