Abstract
A provisioning server can provide and interact with a cloner agent on target machines. The cloner agent can execute on a source target machine and copy the contents of storage on the source target machine to a storage location of the provisioning server. Once copied, the provisioning server can provide the cloner agent to destination target machines. The cloner agent can copy the contents of the source target machine, stored at the provisioning server, to the destination target machines.
Claims23
A method of managing a software provisioning environment, comprising:
- providing, from a provisioning server, an agent to a target machine in a network of target machines, wherein the agent is configured to copy storage contents of the target machine;
- receiving the copied storage contents;
- and
- providing the agent to another target machine in the network of target machines, wherein the agent is configured to transfer the copied storage contents to the another target machine.
A system for managing a software provisioning environment, comprising:
- a network interface to a network of target machines;
- and
- a processor executing a provisioning server and communicating with the network interface and a network management server, the provisioning server being configured to—
- provide an agent to a target machine in the network of target machines, wherein the agent is configured to copy storage contents of the storage machine;
- receive the copied storage contents;
- and
- provide the agent to another target machine in the network of target machines, wherein the agent is configured to transfer the copied storage contents to the another target machine.
A provisioning application, the provisioning application being embodied in a computer readable storage medium and comprising instructions for causing a processor to perform a method comprising:
- providing an agent to a target machine in a network of target machines, wherein the agent is configured to copy storage contents of the target machine;
- receiving the copied storage contents;
- and
- providing the agent to another target machine in the network of target machines, wherein the agent is configured to transfer the copied storage contents to the another target machine.
An agent, the agent being embodied in a computer readable storage medium and comprising instructions for causing a processor to perform a method comprising:
- copying storage contents of a target machine in a network of target machines;
- providing the copied storage contents to a provisioning server;
- retrieving the copied storage contents from the provisioning server;
- and
- transferring the copied storage contents to another target machines in the network of target machines.
