Abstract
An apparatus and method of providing an electrical component interface is disclosed. For one embodiment, the electrical component interface includes an electrical component adapter. The electrical component adapter includes an electronic component solder pattern for receiving and allowing attachment of an electrical component. An adhesive backing is adjacent a surface of the electrical component adapter. The adhesive backing provides attachment of the electrical component adapter to a second surface.
Claims20
An electrical component interface comprising:
- an electrical component adapter, the electrical component adapter comprising an electronic component solder pattern for receiving and allowing attachment of an electrical component;
- and
- an adhesive backing adjacent a surface of the electrical component adapter, the adhesive backing providing attachment of the electrical component adapter to a second surface.
A method of electrically connecting an electrical component to a printed circuit board, comprising:
- soldering the electrical component to electrical contacts of an electrical component adapter;
- applying an adhesive to a surface of the electrical component adapter;
- and
- attaching the electrical component adapter to the printed circuit board, wherein the adhesive of the electrical component adapter affixes the electrical component adapter to the printed circuit board after attachment.
A method of electrically connecting an electrical component to a printed circuit board, comprising:
- attaching a flexible circuit board to the printed circuit board, wherein the attachment is provided by an adhesive previously deposited on the flexible circuit board;
- attaching a electrical component adapter to the flexible circuit board, wherein the attachment is provided by an adhesive previously deposited on the electrical component adapter;
- and
- soldering the electrical component to electrical contacts of the electrical component adapter.
A method of modifying conductive footprints of a printed circuit board, comprising:
- affixing a flexible insulating layer over at least a portion of the printed circuit board, wherein the flexible insulating layer comprises an adhesive layer that causes the flexible insulating layer to attach to the portion of the printed circuit board;
- affixing a flexible circuit board over at least a portion of the flexible insulating layer, wherein an adhesive attaches the flexible circuit board to the flexible insulating layer;
- and
- attaching an electrical component to the flexible circuit board, wherein the flexible circuit board facilitates electrical connections between the electrical component and the printed circuit board.
