Abstract
A wedge clamp providing for a positive attachment to structural angles, I-beams, H-beams, T-bars, plates, boards, conventional angles, bulb angles, channels, plates and other similar structural shapes comprises a clamp wedge and body that capture objects with two opposing planar surfaces securing the objects against each other using a bolt with nut or other means to engage the threads of the bolt to pull the wedge through the body and causing the objects being attached together to be squeezed together. The wedge clamp is also used to support other members using a bolt or threaded rod attached to the wedge clamp which in this case normally attaches to a single flange of the structure.
Claims3
A wedge comprised of a base, a sloping surface, a tip where the planes of the base and the sloping surface intersect, and a tab on the end of the wedge where the base and sloping surface diverge, that extends from the wide end of the wedge at an angle of between 90 and 120 degrees from the base, beyond the intersection of a plane created by the sloping surface and tab a distance sufficient to allow a pivoting about the contact between the sloping surface and a contact line, in a opening the wedge is inserted, that includes the tab that has a hole offset from the pivot point that when used with ridged objects that have a predetermined size and shape of a cutout that allow the wedge to pass caused a reduction in space and a corresponding tightening on opposite sides of a object clamping said object between a base of the wedge and a retaining portion of the ridged object a offset hole located in the body further from the restraining portion than the opening which allows a threaded fastener to be engaged pulling the said wedge through the said opening while the causing a pivoting action of the tip of the wedge that pushes against the object being clamped while maintaining a flat contact to said object;
- a hole in a extended portion of the wedge located on a surface, that is at an outward angle of between 90 and 120 degrees from the flat contact portion of the wedge, for the threaded fastener to pass and pull the wedge into the opening and further located a sufficient distance from the flat surface and being further from the flat contact surface than the widest point of the wedge opposite the tip end, sloping surface from the flat contact surface so the pivoting action of the tip of the wedge and the opening contact is
a wedge clamp comprised of a body and a wedge where said body has a ridged portion that has a opening for the said wedge to pass, where a interior portion that incorporated a surface that a sloping surface of said wedge to engage where the:
- a clamp body made from a ridged material that includes a restraining portion;
- surface, edge or point that holds one side of a object being clamped, that the clamp body further has a adjacent portion that includes a opening sized and shaped for a corresponding wedge to be inserted, causing the space between the restraining portion and a edge or surface interior to the opening to cause a flat portion of the wedge to move towards the restraining portion and the object being clamped between the wedge and the restraining portion as the wedge is moved through the opening;
- A wedge comprised of a base, a sloping surface, and a tab that extends from the wide end of the wedge at an angle of between 90 and 120 degrees from the base beyond the intersection of the plane created by the sloping surface a distance that caused a pivoting force about the contact between the sloping surface and the that includes a portion that has a hole offset from the that when used with ridged objects that have a predetermined size and shape of a cutout that allow the wedge to pass caused a reduction in space and a corresponding tightening on opposite sides of a object clamping said object between a base of the wedge and a retaining portion of the ridged object a offset hole located in the body further from the restraining portion than the opening which allows a threaded fastener to be engaged pulling the said wedge through the said opening while the causing a pivoting action of the tip of the wedge that pushes against the object being clamped while maintaining a flat contact to said object a hole in a extended portion of the wedge located on a surface, that is at an outward angle of between 90 and 120 degrees from the flat contact portion of the wedge, for the threaded fastener to pass and pull the wedge into the opening and further located a sufficient distance from the flat surface and being further from the flat contact surface than the widest point of the wedge opposite the tip end, sloping surface from the flat contact surface so the pivoting action of the tip of the wedge and the opening contact is
