Continuous Re-Insertion of Advertisements in Video Content

A system for continuously adapting media content comprising:

• an network interface configured to receive media content comprising feature content and addressable content;
• a memory device receiving feature content, the feature content comprising media break data;
• a load controller in communication with the network interface, the load controller receiving addressable content from the network interface and preparing the addressable content for insertion;
• a targeting table in communication with the load controller, the targeting table comprising metadata associated with the addressable content detailing addressability parameters;
• a merge controller in communication with the memory device, the load controller and the targeting table, the merge controller analyzing the feature content and identifying media break data, the merge controller identifying the appropriate addressable content for insertion into the feature content based on at least the media break data and directing the insertion of the appropriate addressable content into the updated feature content;
• a playout controller in communication with the memory device, the playout controller retrieving the updated feature content;
• and
• an output interface in communication with the playout controller, the output interface delivering the updated feature content.

A digital recording viewer comprising:

• a first input interface receiving feature content over a network;
• a first memory device;
• a record controller in communication with the first input interface and the first memory device, the record controller storing the feature content in the first memory device;
• a second input interface receiving addressable content over a network;
• a load controller in communication with the second input interface, the load controller receiving addressable content from the network interface and preparing the addressable content for insertion;
• a second memory device in communication with the load controller, the second memory device storing the addressable content;
• a reporting table in communication with the merge controller and playout controller, the reporting table comprising usage statistics;
• a merge controller in communication with the first and second memory devices and the targeting table, the merge controller analyzing the feature content and identifying media break data, the merge controller identifying the appropriate addressable content for insertion into the feature content based on the media break data, targeting table and reporting table and directing the insertion of the appropriate addressable content into the updated feature content;
• a playout controller in communication with the first memory device, the playout controller retrieving the updated feature content;
• and
• an output interface in communication with the playout controller, the output interface delivering the updated feature content.
