Abstract
A method for pairing and operating a multi-mode pointing device is provided. A pointing device may be automatically paired with an image display device. A pairing request signal may be transmitted on a prescribed frequency channel, and a signal may be received indicating information of a plurality of frequency channels. One of the frequency channels may be selected as a pairing frequency channel for operating in a radio frequency mode.
Claims19
A method for operating a multi-mode pointing device, the method comprising:
- operating in an infrared (IR) mode to transmit at least one IR signal;
- and
- operating in a radio frequency (RF) mode to transmit RF signals.
A method for operating a multi-mode pointing device, the method comprising:
- receiving an input signal;
- determining whether the multi-mode pointing device is set in a radio frequency (RF) mode or in an infrared (IR) mode;
- and
- transmitting an RF signal or an IR signal based on the determined mode.
A multi-mode pointing device for transmitting and receiving signals, comprising:
- a radio signal transceiver;
- a storage for storing frequency channel information;
- and
- a controller for operating in an infrared (IR) mode to control the radio signal transceiver to transmit at least one IR signal and for operating in a radio frequency (RF) mode to control the radio transceiver to transmit RF signals.
