A device for preparing a liquid food or beverage from a pre-portioned beverage or food ingredient comprising an outermost housing having faces that are arranged to shield at least part of a liquid food or beverage module arranged for receiving an ingredient and feeding a liquid to the ingredient, with one of the housing faces having means for connection to an appliance, wherein the housing face having the connection means is arranged to mechanically support the appliance and the connection means is disconnectably connectable by a user to the appliance, whereby the housing is so arranged that the appliance is removably mountable onto the housing face by a user.

A milk frothing appliance having a tank for containing milk to be frothed, with the appliance being handleless and having an outer generally upright surface that forms a grip arrangement seizable by a human hand, such that the appliance can be carried and displaced single handed by seizure of the grip arrangement, such appliance further having a cordless connector for connection to corresponding connection means of a liquid food or beverage device.
