Abstract
A micro-patterned plate composed of an array of releasable elements surrounded by a gel or solid wall and methods of manufacture of the micropatterned plate. The surface properties of walls can be tailored if needed to be repellent or attracting to proteins. The walls can also inhibit cell attachment. The walls enable cells or other materials to be localized to the tops of the releasable elements. The individual element in the array of releasable elements can be released from the array by a mechanical force.
Claims14
A micropatterned plate comprising
- a plate body,
- an array of elements releasably coupled to the surface of a plate body, and
- a plurality of walls interposing and forming a barrier between releasable elements of the array of elements.
A method of form a micropatterned plate having releasable elements with barrier walls there between comprising the steps of
- placing releasable elements of a micropatterned plate having an array of releasable elements releasably coupled to the surface of a plate body on to a substrate,
- drawing a photosensitive material into spaces between releasable elements and between the plate body and substrate, and
- exposing the photosensitive polymer material to UV light to form walls of photopolymerized material interposing the releasable elements.
A method comprising the steps of
- plating a material interest on the surface of releasable elements of a micropatterned plate comprising an array of releasable elements with barrier walls interposing the releasable elements, and
- releasing one or more of the releasable elements from the array for analysis of the material attached to the surface of the one or more of the releasable elements.
The method of claim 13 wherein the material of interest is a cell.
