Abstract
A method and apparatus for a configurable offline data store are described herein. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a request for a first set of one or more records from a client application, wherein the first set is remotely stored. The method further includes determining a second set of one or more records that is associated with the first set, wherein the second set is remotely stored. The method further includes fetching over a network the first set and the second set from a server data store unit; storing the first set and the second set in a client data store unit and providing access to the first set and the second set when the network is not operational.
Claims18
A method comprising:
- creating a configuration record, wherein the configuration record includes a data store change identifier and a server data store identifier;
- receiving a list of record types, wherein for each list of record types, a list of attributes is received;
- storing data records in a server data store unit, wherein each of the data records includes a type and an attribute;
- modifying one of the data records;
- and
- modifying the data store change identifier if the one of the data records includes a type or an attribute included in the list of record types or the lists of attributes.
A method comprising:
- launching a first set of one or more applications and a second set of one or more applications on a client, wherein the client includes a client data store unit including a first set of one or more data records;
- determining whether a client has an active server connection;
- if the client does not have an active server connection, allowing the first set of applications and the second set of applications to access the first set of data records;
- if the client has an active server connection, determining whether the first set of data records is valid;
- and
- if the first set of data records is valid, allowing the first set of applications to access the first set of data records and allowing the second set of applications to access only a second set of data records.
A machine-readable medium that provides instructions, which when executed by a machine, cause said machine to perform operations comprising:
- creating a configuration record, wherein the configuration record includes a data store change identifier and a server data store identifier;
- receiving a list of record types, wherein for each list of record types, a list of attributes is received;
- storing data records in a server data store unit, wherein each of the data records includes a type and an attribute;
- modifying one of the data records;
- and
- modifying the data store change identifier if the one of the data records includes a type or an attribute included in the list of record types or the lists of attributes.
A machine-readable medium that provides instructions, which when executed by a machine, cause said machine to perform operations comprising:
- launching a first set of one or more applications and a second set of one or more applications on a client, wherein the client includes a client data store unit including a first set of one or more data records;
- determining whether a server has an active server connection;
- if the client does not have an active server connection, allowing the first set of applications and the second set of applications to access the first set of data records;
- if the client has an active server connection, determining whether the first set of data records is valid;
- and
- if the first set of data records is valid, allowing the first set of applications to access the first set of data records and allowing the second set of applications to access only a second set of data records.
An apparatus comprising:
- a processor;
- a server data store unit coupled with the processor, the server data store unit including,
- a configuration record, wherein the configuration record includes record types and attributes, wherein the record types and attributes are associated with management information;
- a server data store administration unit coupled with the server data store unit, the server data store administration unit including an attribute list and a record list.
