Abstract
A sensor is disposed within a pin portion of a feedthrough assembly. The feedthrough assembly provides a hermetically sealed enclosure that protects the sensor. In one embodiment, the sensor is a temperature sensor and the feedthrough assembly thermally isolates the sensor from the surrounding housing or enclosure.

- and
- a temperature sensor connected to the feedthrough assembly and disposed in the opening such that at least a portion of the temperature sensor extends outside of the housing.
An implantable medical device including a feedthrough assembly disposed within a hermetically sealed housing of the implantable medical device, the device comprising:
- a temperature sensor extending through an opening in the housing such that at least a portion of the temperature sensor extends outside of the housing;
- and
- means for hermetically sealing the temperature sensor to the housing.
