Abstract
A process for the coupling of hydrocarbons and utilizing the heat energy produced by the reaction is disclosed. In one embodiment the process can include reacting methane with oxygen to form a product stream containing ethane and further processing the ethane to ethylene in an existing ethylene production facility while using the heat energy produced by the reaction within the facility.
Claims21
A process comprising:
- reacting methane and oxygen in one or more reactors to form a first product stream comprising ethylene and/or ethane;
- further processing at least a portion of the components of the first product stream in at least a portion of an existing ethylene production facility.
A process comprising:
- reacting methane and oxygen in one or more reactors to form a first product stream comprising ethylene and/or ethane;
- sending the first product stream to a first separation apparatus that separates the stream into at least ethane;
- removing at least a portion of the ethane from the first separation apparatus and cracking the ethane in a cracking reactor to form ethylene;
- wherein at least a portion of one or more of the separation and cracking processes are performed utilizing the facilities of an existing ethylene production facility;
- wherein the one or more reactors comprises a reaction zone capable of dissipating heat to maintain the reaction zone within a desired temperature range for reacting the methane and oxygen to form ethylene and/or ethane;
- wherein at least a portion of the dissipated heat is recovered and utilized in the cracking reactor and/or existing ethylene production facility.
3 more elements
A method of revamping an existing ethylene production facility comprising:
- providing an existing production facility;
- adding one or more reactors to the facility, wherein the one or more reactors are capable of reacting methane with oxygen to produce a first product stream comprising ethylene and/or ethane;
- sending at least a portion of the first product stream comprising ethylene and/or ethane to the existing ethylene production facility for further processing to form ethylene;
- wherein the one or more reactors comprises a reaction zone capable of dissipating heat to maintain the reaction zone within a desired temperature range for reacting the methane and oxygen to form ethylene and/or ethane;
- wherein at least a portion of the dissipated heat is utilized in the existing production facility.
2 more elements
A process comprising:
- an oxidative coupling reaction of hydrocarbons;
- wherein the oxidative coupling reaction is exothermic and generates heat energy;
- wherein at least a portion of the heat energy produced by the reaction is recovered and utilized in a facility.
