N-(phosphonoalkyl)-amino acids, derivatives thereof and compositions and methods of use

A composition comprising an N-(phosphonoalkyl)-amino acid, a related compound or a derivative thereof in a form as a free acid, salt, amide or ester, or in stereoisomeric or non-stereoisomeric form for topical or systemic administration to a mammalian subject for treatment of cosmetic conditions or dermatological disorders;

• wherein the N-(phosphonoalkyl)-amino acid, related compound or derivative thereof is N-(phosphonoalkyl)-proline or has the following formula:
• R1CH(NR2R3)(CH2)mCOR4
• wherein R1 is H, an alkyl group having 1 to 19 carbon atoms, an aryl group having 6 to 19 carbon atoms or an aralkyl group having 7 to 19 carbon atoms;
• and R1 can also carry —OH, —SH, —SCH3, —NH2, —NR2R3, —COR4, —NHCONH2, —NHC(=NR2)NH2, imidazole, pyrrolidine or other heterocyclic group;
• m is an integer from 0 to 5;
• R2 is a phosphonoalkyl group having a formula (HO)2PO(CH2)n—;
• R3 is H or a phosphonoalkyl group having a formula (HO)2PO(CH2)n—;
• n is an integer from 1 to 9;
• R4 is —NH2 or —OR5, R5 is H, an alkyl group having 1 to 19 carbon atoms, an aryl group having 6 to 19 carbon atoms or an aralkyl group having 7 to 19 carbon atoms;
• and the H attached to any carbon atom can be substituted by I, F, Cl, Br, OH or an alkoxy group having 1 to 9 carbon atoms;
• and
• wherein the N-(phosphonoalkyl)-amino acid, related compound or derivative thereof is in a form as a free acid, salt, amide or ester, or in stereoisomeric or non-stereoisomeric form.
