Abstract
Methods of Mycobacterial immunotherapy for the treatment of cancer are described. In certain cases, these methods concern administration of attenuated Mycobacteria by intradermal injection into non tumor tissues. Methods of the invention, provide safe and effective treatments for malignant tumors and the compositions for use in such treatments. Methods for determine the effectiveness of such immunotherapies are also described.
Claims45
A method for treating a malignant tumor in a subject comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective dosage of an attenuated Mycobacteria composition comprising about 1×104 to about 5×107 colony forming units (CFU) of Mycobacteria wherein said Mycobacteria composition is not administered directly to the tumor and wherein said composition is essentially free of melanoma cells.
A method for treating a malignant tumor in a subject comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective dosage of an attenuated Mycobacteria composition wherein said Mycobacteria composition is administered by direct intradermal injection into non-tumor tissue and wherein said composition is essentially free of melanoma cells.
