Abstract
Architecture that mitigates echo in voice communications using echo detection and adaptive management of attenuation by a non-linear processor (NLP). Suppression values provided by the NLP are determined based on echo detection and retained on a case-by-case basis to automatically increase or decrease the attenuation as needed. Feedback is incorporated that where the controls for the NLP attenuation is given by the amount of echo that remains, and this in turn affects the amount of echo that remains.
Claims20
A computer-implemented echo mitigation system, comprising:
- a filter component for computing echo detection results based on searching for echo in a residual microphone signal relative to content in a speaker signal;
- and
- an attenuation adjustment component for adaptively adjusting attenuation in a non-linear processor (NLP) based on the echo detection results.
A computer-implemented echo mitigation system, comprising:
- a filter component of a two-way voice communications system for searching for echo in a residual microphone signal using an array of short length adaptive filters;
- and
- an attenuation adjustment component of the two-way voice communications system for adaptively adjusting maximum attenuation in an NLP based on results of the search.
A computer-implemented echo mitigation method, comprising:
- analyzing a residual microphone signal for echo;
- adaptively adjusting attenuation of an NLP based on strength of the echo detected;
- and
- applying the attenuation to the residual microphone signal.
