Abstract
A projector includes: an illumination device that emits an illumination light beam; a liquid crystal device that modulates the illumination light beam from the illumination device based on image information; a projection optical system that projects light modulated by the liquid crystal device; and at least one polarizing member that is disposed on a light exit side of the liquid crystal device and has in order a light-transmissive substrate, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, a KE polarizer, an adhesive layer, and a support layer, the polarizing member being positioned so that the adhesive layer is closer to a light exit side than is the KE polarizer.

A projector comprising:
- an illumination device that emits an illumination light beam,
- a liquid crystal device that modulates the illumination light beam from the illumination device based on image information;
- a projection optical system that projects light modulated by the liquid crystal device;
- and
- at least one polarizing member that is disposed on a light exit side of the liquid crystal device and has in order a light-transmissive substrate, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, a KE polarizer, an adhesive layer, and a support layer,
- the polarizing member being positioned so that the adhesive layer is closer to a light exit side than is the KE polarizer.
