Recording medium, playback device, and integrated circuit

A playback device for playing back video from a recording medium having recorded thereon an interleaved stream including a plurality of data blocks, and management information, wherein

• the interleaved stream includes a main-view stream used for monoscopic video playback and a sub-view stream used for stereoscopic video playback in combination with the main-view stream,
• the plurality of data blocks include a plurality of main-view data blocks contained in the main-view stream, and a plurality of sub-view data blocks contained in the sub-view stream,
• the management information includes 2D management information that refers to the main-view data blocks in monoscopic video playback, and 3D management information that refers to the main-view data blocks in stereoscopic video playback,
• the plurality of data blocks are grouped into a common data block group, a 2D data block group, and a 3D data block group,
• the common data block group includes one or more of the main-view data blocks and one or more of the sub-view data blocks, the main-view data blocks included in the common data block group being referred to by both the 2D management information and the 3D management information,
• the 2D data block group includes one or more of the main-view data blocks, the main-view data blocks included in the 2D data block group not being referred to by the 3D management information and being referred to by the 2D management information,
• the 3D data block group includes one or more of the main-view data blocks and one or more of the sub-view data blocks, the main-view data blocks included in the 3D data block group not being referred to by the 2D management information and being referred to by the 3D management information,
• the 2D data block group is recorded on an area which is accessed immediately before a long jump that occurs in monoscopic video playback and whose logical address succeeds a logical address of an area on which the common data block group is recorded, and
• the 3D data block group is recorded on an area which is accessed immediately before a long jump that occurs in stereoscopic video playback and whose logical address succeeds a logical address of the area on which the 2D data block group is recorded,
• the main-view data blocks included in the 2D data block group and the main-view data blocks included in the 3D data block group are identical in content, and
• the playback device comprises:
• a read unit operable to read the interleaved stream from the recording medium;
• a separation unit operable to extract the main-view stream and the sub-view stream by separating the main-view data blocks and the sub-view data blocks from the interleaved stream;
• a read buffer operable to store the extracted main-view stream and sub-view stream;
• and
• a decoder operable to receive a compressed picture included in the main-view stream and the sub-view stream from the read buffer and decode the compressed picture, wherein
• the read unit reads the main-view data blocks using the 2D management information in monoscopic video playback, and
• the separation unit extracts the main-view stream by separating the main-view data blocks from the interleaved stream using the 3D management information.

A semiconductor integrated circuit for performing audio and video signal processing on data received from a recording medium having recorded thereon an interleaved stream composed of a plurality of data blocks, and management information, wherein

• the interleaved stream includes a main-view stream used for monoscopic video playback and a sub-view stream used for stereoscopic video playback in combination with the main-view stream,
• the plurality of data blocks include a plurality of main-view data blocks contained in the main-view stream, and a plurality of sub-view data blocks contained in the sub-view stream,
• the management information includes 2D management information that refers to the main-view data blocks in monoscopic video playback, and 3D management information that refers to the main-view data blocks in stereoscopic video playback,
• the plurality of data blocks are grouped into a common data block group, a 2D data block group, and a 3D data block group,
• the common data block group includes one or more of the main-view data blocks and one or more of the sub-view data blocks, the main-view data blocks included in the common data block group being referred to by both the 2D management information and the 3D management information,
• the 2D data block group includes one or more of the main-view data blocks, the main-view data blocks included in the 2D data block group not being referred to by the 3D management information and being referred to by the 2D management information,
• the 3D data block group includes one or more of the main-view data blocks and one or more of the sub-view data blocks, the main-view data blocks included in the 3D data block group not being referred to by the 2D management information and being referred to by the 3D management information,
• the 2D data block group is recorded on an area which is accessed immediately before a long j ump that occurs in monoscopic video playback and whose logical address succeeds a logical address of an area on which the common data block group is recorded, and
• the 3D data block group is recorded on an area which is accessed immediately before a long jump that occurs in stereoscopic video playback and whose logical address succeeds a logical address of the area on which the 2D data block group is recorded,
• the main-view data blocks included in the 2D data block group and the main-view data blocks included in the 3D data block group are identical in content,
• the main-view data blocks and the sub-view data blocks both include visual data,
• at least one of the main-view data blocks and the sub-view data blocks includes audio data, and
• the semiconductor integrated circuit comprises:
• a main control unit operable to control the semiconductor integrated circuit;
• a stream processing unit operable to receive the interleaved stream and, after temporarily storing the received interleaved stream in one of memory units internal and external to the semiconductor integrated circuit, demultiplex the received interleaved stream into the visual data and the audio data;
• a signal processing unit operable to decode the audio data and the visual data;
• and
• an AV output unit operable to output the decoded audio data and the decoded video data, wherein
• the stream processing unit includes a switching unit that switches a storage location of the received interleaved stream in the memory that has a first area and a second area,
• in stereoscopic video playback, the main control unit causes the switching unit to store data contained in the main-view data blocks in the first area and to store data contained in the sub-view data blocks in the second area, and
• the main control unit uses the 3D management information when causing the switching unit to store the data contained in the main-view data blocks in the first area.

A playback device for playing back video from a recording medium having recorded thereon streams and playback path information, the streams including a main-view stream and a sub-view stream that constitute stereoscopic video, wherein

• the playback path information includes pieces of playback section information corresponding to angle images of a multi angle section,
• a portion of the main-view stream and a portion of the sub-view stream which constitute the angle images each includes a plurality of data blocks,
• the data blocks constituting the portion of the main-view stream and the data blocks constituting the portion of the sub-view stream are arranged to constitute data block groups each corresponding to one of the angle images and having a data size that allows angle switching, the data block groups being arranged in an interleaved manner for the angle images, and
• the playback device comprises:
• a read unit operable to read the streams and the playback path information from the recording medium;
• a separation unit operable to extract the main-view stream and the sub-view stream by separating the data blocks constituting the portion of the main-view stream and the data blocks constituting the portion of the sub-view stream from the streams;
• a read buffer operable to store the extracted main-view stream and sub-view stream;
• and
• a decoder operable to receive a compressed picture included in the main-view stream and the sub-view stream from the read buffer and decode the compressed picture, wherein
• the read unit reads the streams in accordance with the playback path information.

A semiconductor integrated circuit for performing audio and video signal processing on data received from a recording medium having recorded thereon streams and playback path information, the streams including a main-view stream and a sub-view stream that constitute stereoscopic video, wherein

• the playback path information includes pieces of playback section information corresponding to angle images of a multi angle section,
• a portion of the main-view stream which constitutes the angle images includes a plurality of main-view data blocks,
• a portion of the sub-view stream which constitutes the angle images includes a plurality of sub-view data blocks,
• the main-view data blocks and the sub-view data blocks are arranged to constitute data block groups each corresponding to one of the angle images and having a data size that allows angle switching, the data block groups being arranged in an interleaved manner for the angle images,
• the main-view data blocks and the sub-view data blocks both include visual data,
• at least one of the main-view data blocks and the sub-view data blocks includes audio data, and
• the semiconductor integrated circuit comprises:
• a main control unit operable to control the semiconductor integrated circuit;
• a stream processing unit operable to receive the data and, after temporarily storing the received interleaved stream in one of memory units internal and external to the semiconductor integrated circuit, demultiplex the received data into the visual data and the audio data;
• a signal processing unit operable to decode the audio data and the visual data;
• and
• an AV output unit operable to output the decoded audio data and the decoded video data, wherein
• the stream processing unit includes a switching unit that switches a storage location of the received data in the memory that has a first area and a second area,
• the main control unit causes the switching unit to store data contained in the main-view data blocks in the first area and to store data contained in the sub-view data blocks in the second area.
