Character inputting device

A character inputting device, comprising:

• an input unit configured such that a plurality of input areas are radially arranged around a reference location and respectively spaced apart from each other independently, one or more characters are assigned to each input area, and the respective characters can be selected through different input actions including touching, pressing, outward touch movement, inward touch movement and circumferential touch movement;
• a detection unit configured to separately detect the different input actions for each of the input areas;
• and a control unit configured to extract a relevant character from a memory unit in accordance with results of the detection by the detection unit, and input the extracted character.
