Magnetic recording head with magnetic wall angle

A magnetic assembly comprising:

• a magnetic pole including a pole tip having a leading edge, a trailing edge and side edges forming a generally rectangular shaped surface along an air bearing surface of the assembly;
• a coil energizable to induce a magnetic flux path in the pole tip;
• and
• a pole tip shield including a leading edge portion connected to side portions having an elongate length dimension extending along the side edges of the pole tip.

A magnetic assembly comprising:

• a magnetic pole having a pole tip including a leading edge, a trailing edge and side edges;
• a coil energizable to induce a magnetic flux in the pole tip;
• a pole tip shield proximate to the pole tip magnetically coupled to an auxiliary pole of the assembly;
• a trailing edge shield spaced from the pole tip shield;
• and
• a non-magnetic gap portion separating the pole tip shield from the trailing edge shield along an air bearing surface of the assembly.
